Daughter is vocalist/guitarist Elena Tonra, electric guitarist Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella. Together, the trio write dark, ethereal and hauntingly beautiful songs that showcase a group of young musicians experimenting delicately with a rich array of songwriting ideas. Described by Mojo Magazine as, “unflinchingly honest & hugely captivating,” Daughter came together in late 2010, and have watched their star gently rise, collecting fans one-by-one as their demo tracks started to spread amongst enthusiastic friends and bloggers online. In April 2011, Daughter self-released their debut EP, His Young Heart. Since its release, Daughter has caught the attention of critics and fans alike. Currently preparing to make their US debut, Daughter will be releasing their new EP ‘The Wild Youth’, on Glassnote Records this February with a full length album scheduled for release later this year.
Bear's Den are London trio Andrew Davie, Joey Haynes, and Kevin Jones. The music they make is wholesome, warm, and engaging, and takes its influence from the likes of Being There era Wilco, Ryan Adams, and a wealth of both folk and alt-country reference points.
The ethos of DIY is at the heart of everything Bear's Den have done since their inception. Charging around the UK in a van playing to any venue that would have them, picking up support tours with the likes of Of Men And Monsters, Smoke Fairies, and Matt Corby, and concluding 2012 with a support slot for Mumford & Sons at London's O2 Arena, Bear's Den took time out and relocated to a cottage in Wales to record their debut EP, sold only at shows last year, and went on to record this Agape EP in Norfolk with Kristoffer Harris.
'Agape' sets out its stall from the opening chords, and is a spellbinding example of Bear’s Den’s sound. Andrew Davie's lyrics and voice are beautifully fragile, resonating with the clarity of a songwriter almost twice his age. Framed around the ambiguous Greek word for love, Agape is a warm, all-embracing tune that sets a tone throughout the whole 5-track record.

With forthcoming support from XFM and their ‘Great X-Pectations’ fortnight of the best new artists (Bear’s Den feature throughout 26th Jan), and a headline tour on the verge of selling out, Bear’s Den are another fine acquisition for the ever reliable Communion label, and a new band with something that already soars above mere potential.
